Reviewing the Charcoal Chicken: Croxton Rooster (677 High St, Thornbury VIC 3071)

My beloved Croxton Roosters, where do I start?

Croxton Rooster I have been visiting for years on the trot now and have become one of the local regulars. The main factor why most of they customers come back is due to a huge and influential factor: The friendliness of service. It is family owned and both the owners are ALWAYS without a doubt obtain a permanent smile on their faces in front of their customers always lightening up your day by cracking jokes and asking you how has your day been.
Their chicken is not the BEST in Melbourne but it is certainly up there with the best. It is magnificently luscious and tasty, the stuffing is up there the breast chicken is also taken off the top shelf and the chips are certainly more than half decent. However the Croxton Rooster does not excel in anything in particular all their products: chicken, chips, salad are all top notch but they are not "the best". The chicken breast can sometimes be a little dry but at least they are consistent and you always know what to expect when you go there.

The aspect which raises them above the rest is there service, friendliness and their spectacular and breathtaking indoor dining area which could seat around 25 people max and is highly suitable for groups of 2-8 for a meal and there are very accommodating with their mismatching bowls and silverware and their abundant supply of napkins which are placed on every table alongside the salt and pepper .

Their parking is also suitable as you can usually find parking around the area for an hour which is suitable. The price is also reasonable at around $10 for Half chicken + chips is a decent price.

In saying all this the Croxton Roosters excels in friendliness, consistency of their products and their atmosphere. For me it ticks all the boxes

Croxton Chicken rating:

8.9/10
